| 40 Caliber; fair bore, good stock, 40.5'' barrel, Made by Samuel Schuler, a gunsmith from Liverpool Pennsylvania, c.1850. Full octagon barrel of approximate 40 Caliber. Fixed silver blade front and fixed rear sights. Top of barrel engraved "S.SCHULER / LIVERPOOL.PA". Sam used a conventional lock made by James Golcher, so marked on the side. Plain walnut stock is very possibly a replacement at some point, fitted well, with brass buttplate and trigger guard, pewter forend cap. Double set triggers which function as they should, the lock works pretty well. |
