| 22 Short; good bore, very good grips, 3 3/16'' barrel, Manufactured c.1868-1881. Nickel finish, birdshead frame with rosewood grips. Spur trigger, 8-shot cylinder. Matching assembly numbers "J32" on grip frame, cylinder face and rear of the barrel lug. The right grip panel is stamped with a serial number not matching the revolver. Round ribbed barrel, stamped on the top fo the rib "+SMITH & WESSON SPRINGFIELD MASS. PAT. APR.3.55. JULY 5.59, DEC. 15 60+". This revolver is engraved in the Nimschke style with approximately 70% coverage, covering the sides of the barrel, over the cylinders, sides of the frame and parially down the backstrap. Star pattern on the sides of the barrel lug. Punch dot background. Mechanically in fine condition, there is some light pitting on the face and back of the cylinder. The barrel hinge is good and the barrel locks down well. Antique., s/n 982xx |
