| 22 SHORT CAL; poor bore, good grips, 3 3/16'' barrel, Manufactured 1860-1868, blued octagon barrel with fixed front sight. Silver plated brass frame, rosewood grips. Stamped on top of the barrel in a single line "SMITH & WESSON.SPRINGFIELD. MASS.". Patent dates 1855, 1859 and 1860 on the cylinder. The barrel retains blued finish in the protected areas with the remainder turned light patina on both the barrel and cylinder. The frame has approximately 80%+ silver plate finish remaining. The grips show some handling, the left panel having nicks on the edge of the butt and what appears to be a repaired crack on the leading edge upper corner. The action functions well. Barrel has a bit of play but the hinge is undamaged. Crisp clear markings. The bore is dark and rough., s/n 472xx |
