| 22 Caliber; 80% blue, good bore, good stock, 24'' barrel, British and Australian Army converted many .303 rifles to .22 caliber for target practice and training purposes after the First World War. 22 caliber training rifle was made to simulate the exact weight of its big brother the No1 Mk*. All outer appearances and mechanical operations were the same as for the .303 version, the exception being that as a .22 this rifle was a single shot. The magazine was merely a shell, which excluded the follower and spring; its purpose was to catch the extracted cases after firing. The front sight is a winged blade, and the rear is a tangent style graduated to 2000 meters The metal condition has scattered patina. The left rear band has ENFIELD / Sht 22 / II and the right-side ha a CROWN / Enfield Overall in very good condition., s/n 21xx |
