| 45-70 Government; 80% blue, excellent bore, good stock, 28'' barrel, Very rare with just over 750 produced. Repeating rifle fed through the rifle butt. Original blued finish barrel, receiver and bolt in the white, mounted in a walnut stock. Fixed front sight, ramped ladder rear sight. Left top edge of the receiver is marked "U S - SPRINGFIELD.- 1884.". V, P and eagleshead proof over the left side of the barrel. The left side of the stock heel is stamped with a sharp SWP/1884 inspector cartouche. "U" marked barrel bands. Original button tipped cleaning rod. Condition: the blued finish on the barrel has some patina mix with light rust spotting. There is some dark spotting on the receiver. The stock is overall in good condition, there is a large well done patched repair on the left side of the stock in the area of above the trigger. The bottom of the trigger guard has some surface rust. Most of these rifles have an issue with broken feed rods inside the butt, however this rifle seems to function fine, though the bolt action is not smooth., s/n VP |
