| 45-70 GOVT; good bore, good stock, 22'' barrel, Even patina metal. Original walnut stock, with solid buttplate, no cutout under the plate for cleaning rods. 1873 dated breechblock with eagleshead over US. Breechblock blued and likely replaced. Faint oval inspector mark on the left stock and script circle P on bottom of the grip, over an old rack number which appears to be "88". Left side of the butt with a stamped number "21". Top of the stocks wrist stamped with a number "47". Fixed front sight with separate blade. Ladder rear sight, not C marked. Barrel band with stacking swivel a likely replacement. Stock shows handling. Tiny splits in the wood in front of and behind the lockplate and at the end of the front trigger guard tang. Lock functions well. Antique., s/n 410xx |
