| 50-70 BP; 75% blue, poor bore, fair stock, 32.5'' barrel, SPRINGFIELD TRAP DOOR MODEL 1870 RIFLE IN ANTIQUE FINE CONDITION. THESE WERE CONVERTED FROM M1863 SPRINGFIELD MUZZLE LOADING MUSKETS AND CHAMBERED IN 50-70 AND WERE AN INTERIM DESIGN FINALIZED IN THE MODEL 1873. THE BLUING HAS TURNED BLACK AND PATINA. THE BORE HAS DISTINCT RIFLING ALONG WITH CORROSION PRESENT. THE STOCK IS MOSTLY SOLID WITH A1 1/2" SLIVER MISSING AT THE RIGHT FRONT BAND. THE LOCK PLATE IS MARKED U.S.SPRINGFIELD 1863. THE TRAP DOOR IS MARKED 1870. THERE ARE NO VISIBLE CARTOUCHES ON THE STOCK. COMES WITH A US MARKED TRIANGULAR BAYONET WITH NO SCABBARD., s/n 494xx |
