| Description: |
| 50 Caliber; 98% blue, very good bore, very good+ grips, 6.75'' barrel, Manufactured by Thomas Blissett of Liverpool England c.1860. Original bright blued finish octagon barrel with fixed sights, small silver bead front and a V notched rear blade. Frame and 6-shot fluted cylinder retain 95% or better casehardened color. English scroll engraved. Blued trigger guard with English scroll and border engraving. Scroll engraved casehardened grip butt cap with trap door. Side mounted loading lever with bright blued finish, marked "HENRY JONES'S / IMPROVED / ROD". The top of the barrel is engraved "Thomas Blissett, South Castle St. Liverpool". British Crown/V proofing located on the bottom of the barrel and over each cylinder chamber. The unique action functions well, cocking and dropping the hammer pushes the cylinder forward a bit forming a sort of gas seal. Finely checkered walnut one piece grip is in very good condition, shows a bit of shrinkage at the fit to the frame and a small spot of compression on the right side. This revolver comes in the original wooden lockable case with blue felt lined compartmentalized interior. Inside the case are two bone handled screw driver tools, key, wooden cleaning rod with brass jag and cupped screw on tips, wad cutting tool, brass bullet mold, James Dixon & Sons Sheffield copper and brass powder flask, small bone container with three extra nipples, nickle plated oiler, and a sealed paper label covered container of Eley Bros. caps. Under the case lid is a round paper label marked "THOMAS BLISSETT, PATENTEE / GUN MANUFACTURER / 38 SOUTH CASTLE STREET / LIVERPOOL". The case is in very good condition, showing some age with dings and scratches. |
