| Description: |
| 7.62x39mm; 75% blue, good bore, good stock, 19'' barrel, THIS IS A PARTS GUN *** NOT SAFE TO SHOOT ****Tokyo arsenal manufactured during WW2, this carbine was converted to 7.62x39mm chambering by the Chinese post WW2. Ian McCollum has an interesting article on these conversions at Forgottenweapons.com. This example retains the original barrel, the sides of the barrel flange (at the joint with the receiver) have been filed flat apparently by the Chinese to assist in removal. The magazine well is original (no spacer blocks) and the original carbine sights are retained. The handguard is a possible new made part by the Chinese. The stock has a coat of varnish or shellac applied. Non-matching bolt and dust cover. No cleaning rod. The metal finish is thinning with scattered areas of light pitting, The dust cover has heavy surface rust. Older CAI import, which is mis-marked "M38 6.5 JAPAN", marked on the side of the barrel near the muzzle. Mechanically fine. The bore has strong fairly sharp rifling, showing frost and light pitting in the grooves. C&R/FFL, s/n 1000xx |
