| .577; good bore, poor stock, 24'' barrel, ENFIELD PATTERN 1853 ENFIELD MUSKET THAT HAS BEEN CUT DOWN TO MIMIC SIZE WISE TTHE PATTERN 1861 ENFIELD MUSKETOON IN ANTIQUE GOOD CONDITION. THE LOCK IS MARKED CROWN TOWER /BARNETT LONDON. THE METAL FINISH IS GONE. THE BORE APPEARS TO BE A SMOOTHBORE SO THIS COULD HAVE POSSIBLY BEEN MODIFIED FOR GUARD USE OR FORAGING. THERE IS NO REAR SIGHT JUST A FRONT BRASS BEAD. THE ONE PIECE STOCK IS CRACKED ON THE LEFT SIDE BETWEEN THE LOCK SCREWS AND SHOWS NUMEROUS DINGS, SCRATCHES AND COMPRESSION DENTS WITH A BRASS TRIGGER GUARD AND BUTTPLATE. ENFIELDS LIKE THIS WERE IN USE WITH INDIAN TROOPS. |
