| A handle for a riding crop. Solid silver (Austrian Hallmarks??) with gold trim. Extremely highly detailed with 3 horses, a cap, a saddle with trappings and a presentation inscription, "Infounterie Equstation Lemberg 188 2/3" ?? And also initials that may be G.V. or V.G.. Lemberg was/is one of the largest cities in the Ukraine, Russian name Lviv, but in the 1880's it was a part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The quality of the work on this piece rivals the main competitor in the jewelry business at that time and place, Carl Fabergé'. Study the details on the three horses heads, they are all individual. We are posting this item to hopefully learn more about it before offering it for sale???, |
