| 30-40 Krag; fair bore, fair stock, 22'' barrel, Worn original metal finish, mounted in a walnut stock. 1903 style front sight fitted onto the barrel, which is canted slightly to the left. Original M1901 Carbine rear sight marked on the left side of the base and ladder "C". The upper half of the forend is a separate piece, held with the lower band, the upper band is fitted with no hole thru the wood for a screw. A brass block is installed in the front of the magazine box, a screw holds this block in place thru the left side cover. Brophy's book makes mention of this conversion on page 135, stating that this a black firing conversion, while standard Ball rounds could be single loaded. The wood has many dings and dents, no cracks or repairs. Mechanically fine. C&R/FFL, s/n 3746xx |
