| This is a M1841 sword dated 1846. Only 6600 of these were manufactured between 1841 thru 1847. Brass knuckle guard cup to protect the hand and fingers. The handle has a fish scale pattern. Ricasso is marked, ‘USN / 1846’, on ricasso and ‘N P AMES / SPRINGFIELD’, on the obverse. The blade side of guard is marked, ‘17’. The unsharpened blade has staining and a few minor nicks and spots of patina., |
