| Original U.S. issue M-1904 leather rifle scabbard, maker appears to be LADEW and is dated 1918. Complete with original straps. This example has been personalized by a post-war owner. A brass plate has been rivited on one upper edge with the name "READE M. YOUNG / WEST 1510 13TH AVE. / PH. MA4-0609 / SPOKANE, WASH.". Initials RMY have been stamped along the upper edge of the scabbard and on one of the straps. Initials DS have been hand carved under the brass plate, and letters MMY are stamped along the bottom back edge. Overall this scabbard is in Good original intact condition, and fits not only an M1903 Springfield rifle as it should, but also a 24 inch barreled lever action rifle fits nearly perfectly. Maybe Reade was a ranch hand. |
