| 54 Caliber; fair bore, good stock, 8.5'' barrel, Manufactured by Henry Aston c.1845-1852. Metal finished "in the white", walnut stock, blued trigger which retains generous finish. The stock has been lightly sanded leaving the inspector marks on the left side flat illegible. Brass mounts. The lock is marked in front of the hammer "US / H.ASTON & CO." and behind the hammer "MIDDtn / CONN. / 1851". The barrel is inspector marked over the left side "S.K/P". The metal has some rust staining but no visible pitting or major dark spotting. Brass fitting have some corrosion. The action functions well., Flaydermans 7th pp 287 |
