| 45-70 Government; 98% blue, like new bore, excellent + stock, 32 5/8'' barrel, This is a remarkable original rifle dated 1880 with an integral front sight and folding ladder rear sight graduated 1-8 on the base and 8-15 on the ladder. Breech block is marked with, U.S. / MODEL/1873 and the lock plate is marked with an Eagle with shield and U.S./SPRINGFIELD. The barrel is marked on left with, “V/P/eagle head/P”, and on top with an “R”. The stock contains the original rod and is marked with a boxed, script “PWP/1880,” cartouche and an encircled “P”. The U.S. marked buttplate has a couple small patina spots., s/n 14382xx |
