| 58 Caliber; good bore, good stock, 40'' barrel, Lock marked with the American eagle motif and "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD". 1862 date behind the hammer. 1862 date on top of the barrel. Walnut stock with no visible inspectors markings. U.S. and A marked buttplate tang. V/P and eagleshead on the left side of the barrel. Barrel and fittings in the white. Spring kept bands. Clean out hole on bolster. Original ramrod. Lock functions well. Bore bright with pitting. Stock has small dings and dents overall, no cracks or damage. Rust spotting on metal parts. Included is an original bayonet, 18" blade US/S marked on the shank, in good condition. |
