| 45-70 Govt; 70% blue, fair bore, good stock, 22'' barrel, Original metal finish turning a even dark patina over all. Original walnut stock with an 1878 dated inspectors cartouche on the left side and script circle P firing proof on the bottom of the grip. Fixed front sight. Rear ladder sight graduated to 1200 yards and marked "C" on the left side. 1873 dated breechblock. The lockplate retains the 1873 date as well though the date on the lockplate was discontinued during the manufacture of this variation. Buttplate with trapdoor compartment for cleaning rod sections. There are small dings on the back of the receiver under the breechblock lever. Mechanically fine. The bore has strong rifling showing frost and light pitting throughout. Antique, s/n 814xx |
