| Original WW1 issue Model 1917 steel helmet. Paint appears to be original and remains at approximately 60%, fading with some rust in areas of loss and around the rim. Liner is complete but is dry. No chin strap. An old sticker has been applied over the heat lot number under the rim, which has hand writing "This was worn by Fredolph Anderson (Arlene's Dad) in World War I 1917-1918 He was in the front lines & wounded & received the Purple Heart". Accompanying the helmet is a walnut framed certificate print behind glass, with a gold painted cast metal spread winged Eagle mounted at the top. Measures approximately 21 x 17.5 inches. The Certificate is named to Fredolph S. Anderson, Pvt. Co. I, 328th Infantry. President Woodrow Wilson signature. The paper has yellowed, no significant damage., |
