| Lot of two (2) original khaki web magazine pouches for the experimental Pederson Device developed late in WW1. Both pouches were produced at the Rock Island arsenal, ink stamped "R.I.A." with dates 6-19 and 1-20. Each will hold 4 40 round magazines. The Pederson device was developed for use with the M1903 MARK I Springfield rifles, replacing the bolt assembly so the rifle could be used as an automatic weapon, firing a .30 caliber pistol type cartridge. After several thousand along with accessories and ammunition were produced, they were put into storage as the war ended. Most of the devices were destroyed in the 1930's and very few remain. These pouches for the Pederson device magazines are in unissued condition, showing some soiling from long term storage. |
