| Cotton web covered belt with 7.5 inch leather tongue, marked at the tip WATERVLIET/ARSENAL with the inspectors name A.R. SMITH along the tip end. The opposite side of the tongue is stamped with illegible letters. Brass buckle. Laquered loops for holding 46 rounds of 50/70 cartridges. The loops are stiff and a bit brittle, several having frays and breakages. Overall fair-good original condition with soiling. Consignor notes state: 2nd variation, three hundred of these belts were specially ordered for Ft. Abraham Lincoln, with only 200 actually delivered., |
