| 455 Webley Auto; 85% blue, very good bore, very good grips, 5'' barrel, THIS PARTICULAR WEBLEY AUTOMATIC MARK I SERIAL 8 WAS PART OF THE FIRST BATCH OF PISTOLS SENT TO THE PORTSMOUTH DOCKYARD ON APRIL 18, 1913. MATCHING NUMBERS. THIS IS THE LOWEST KNOWN SERIAL NUMBER OF THE FIRST BATCH OF NAVY PISTOLS. STAMPED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE SLIDE WITH THE WEBLEY WINGED BULLET LOGO AND "WEBLEY & SCOTT LTD / PISTL SELF LOADING 455 MARK I" FOLLOWED BY THE NAVY ADDED "N", OVER THE DATE "1913". THE EARLY TEMPERED BLIUNG SHOWS MODERATE WEAR WITH THE HEAVIEST ON THE BARREL, FRONT STRAP AND GRIP SAFETY. THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SLIDE BEARS SOME SUPERFICIAL DINGS NEAR THE FRONT. THE BORE IS MIRROR BRIGHT WITH LIGHTLY WORN BUT STILL VERY GOOD METFORD RIFLING. THE CHECKERED HARD RUBBER GRIPS SHOW LIGHT WEAR MOSTLY ON THE RIGHT PANEL. THIS IS A VERY NICE SUPER RARE SINGLE DIGIT EXAMPLE., s/n 8 |
