| 22 LONG RIFLE; 98% blue, excellent bore, very good stock, 30.75'' barrel, This rifle is a bit of a mystery as many of these 22 conversions are. The serial number on the 22 caliber barrel puts this rifle into the range of the 1889/96 infantry rifles, however the action is an M1889 with the rear locking lugs. The receiver has no visible serial number, and the rifle is stocked up similar to an M1896/11 rifle. The receiver is marked over the left side "R. FLUCKIGER / ZURICH". Matching serial number bolt. Non-matching buttplate. Blued finish, walnut stock and handguard. Sharp Cross in Shield mark on the right side of the buttstock. The grip fitted to the stock is longer than normal on 96/11 rifles. Unmarked 6 round magazine is detachable, with a grooved follower marked "DEPOSE WH". Standard military type sights. Includes muzzle cover. Cocking ring has surface rusting. Stock has scattered minor handling dings and scuffs. Mechanically fine with a bright sharp bore. Antique., s/n 2789xx |
