| 12 Gauge; good bore, very good stock, 29'' barrel, Manufactured in England c.late 1880's. Browned finish damascus barrels, chambers gauge 2 5/8", choked Modified and Improved Cylinder. Smoth concave barrel rib with silver bead. Gold inlaid on top of the rib over the chambers "Elliot's Patent" bordered by S scroll, and engraved "WIGGAN & ELLIOTT MAKERS TO THE ROYAL FAMILY & THE PACHA OF EGYPT". Casehardened frame and lockplates, which have faded mostly grey, border engraved with moderate English scroll work on the lockplates. Hooked lever barrel lock. Double triggers. Checkered walnut wedged forend has a small chip on the right side upper sharp edge. Checkered walnut English grip stock with a 14" LOP. Checkered horn buttplate is a replacement which needs fitting. Both locks function well and the barrels lock up as they should. Bores are bright, show rather minor corrosion ahead of the chambers. Screws on the plates and tangs show turning. |
