| 22 Long Rifle; 50% blue, poor bore, good stock, 28'' barrel, Manufactured in 1913. Original blue finish thinning to patina. Walnut stock lightly sanded and oil finished, large bore musket type forend with two spring kept barrel bands, upper band is "U" marked and of the split type, both bands with swivels. Fixed front and military style ladder rear sights. Stamped on top of the barrel with the Winchester address and patent dates in two lines. Upper tang marked "PAT. OCT. 7TH 79/-WINCHESTER-/TRADE MARK". The rear sight is nearly identical to the ladder sights used on Swedish M67/89 8mm caliber rolling block rifles, ladder graduated to 1900 meters, 600 meters on the side ramp. Cleaning rod in the channel is Swedish mauser type. No unusual markings on the wood or metal. The wood is over all good, the buttstock has an old tight crack behind the upper tang. The barrel has scattered areas of tiny dings. Mechanically fine, the bore is rough. C&R/FFL, s/n 1020xx |
