| 22 Short; poor bore, good stock, 24.5'' barrel, Manufactured in 1898. Tube magazine fed pump action rifle, octagon barrel with fixed front and rear sights. Original walnut stock and forend have been lightly refinished long ago. The metal has finish has worn with only scattered traces of blue remaining, turned mostly grey with surface rusting and spotting overall. Stamped on top of the barrel "-MANUFACTURED BY THE- / -WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS CO. NEW HAVEN. CONN. U.S.A.-". Upper tang is stamped "WINCHESTER / -MODEL 1890- / PAT. JUNE 25-88. DEC. 6-92.". Serial number located on the lower tang. This rifle is complete and mechanically in fine condition, a good candidate for a total restoration. There are un-identified proofs over the left side of the barrel and receiver, possibly Swiss. The bore shows corrosion with visible rifling., s/n 542xx |
