| 44 WCF; fair bore, good stock, 26'' barrel, Manufactured in 1883. Original blue finish and walnut stock with crescent butt. Full octagon barrel with fixed front and elevation adjustable rear sights. The top of the barrel forward of the rear sight is marked "WINCHESTER'S REPEATING ARMS. NEW HAVEN CT./KING'S-IMPROVEMENT-PATENTED-MARCH 29, 1866. OCTOBER 16, 1860". The upper tang is engraved "-MODEL 1873-". An old hand made brass sling swivel stud has been installed on the bottom of the buttstock, and the metal forend cap has two small holes on each side probably for attaching a wire sling swivel at one point. Condition: The metal finish has turned mostly light brown patina, with some original blue remaining in and around the more protected areas. There is some scattered light spotting on the metal. The original walnut stock has nice oil patina and a fancy grain, showing some handling. The original sliding dust cover on top of the frame is present. Mechanically in fine working condition. The bore has strong rifling, showing some darkness and light-moderate pitting throughout. Antique., s/n 1210xxA |
