| 44 WCF; 50% blue, good bore, very good stock, 20'' barrel, Manufactured in 1910, this is an original factory short rifle. It has the optional 20 inch octogen barrel and the correct 1 inch shorter forearm, that measures 8 3/8. the front sight is a blade and the rear is an adjustable buck horn sight. The left side of the barrel has WINCHESTER REPETING ARMS NEW HAVEN CONN. USA / KING'S IMPROVEMENT PATENED MARCH 29 1866 OCTOBER 16 1880 and 44 W.C.F. and the Winchester proof on the top of the bbl. The top tang has MODEL 1873 / WINCHESTER / TRADE MARK The brass cover plate on the bottom of the receiver has 44 CAL The original sliding dust cover is present. It has a trap door rifle buttplate. The walnut forearm and buttstock are in very good condition with vey few handling marks The metal finish is dull and has spotting on the barrel and the receiver has a trace of pitting on the left high edge. The action works and the lever locking swivel is still intact., s/n 6725xxB |
