| 32-40 Winchester; good bore, good stock, 26'' barrel, Made in 1894. Original blued finish though mostly only trace and protected areas show much finish. Plain walnut stock. Octagon barrel with ivory beaded front sight, elevation adjustable rear sight. Stamped on top of the barrel with the Winchester New Haven address in two lines. Caliber designation "32-40" stamped over the chamber. Model and 1884 patent date stamped on top of the upper tang. Bottom of the buttstock has a small hole where something was once added, rather small for a swivel stud or screw? Upper tang has some dark spotting/pin prick pitting. Metal otherwise is pretty clean. Mechanically fine. Bore has strong rifling, dull with frost throughout. Antique, s/n 39xx |
