| 30 WCF; 30% blue, fair bore, good stock, 20'' barrel, Manufactured c.1910. This rifle is U.S. marked with the questionable U.S. Anchor markings, an example of which several others have surfaced and its been argued over the authenticity of them. Most it seems are stamped with the US/Anchor in different places with various other types of marks. This example is stamped twice on top of the receiver ring over the chamber, once rather lightly below the oval proof, the other off to the side a bit. The bottom of the receiver under the serial number is stamped with a number "4" over "US PROPERTY". The right side of the buttstock along and just above the edge is a rack (?) number "0127". Those are the only markings other than the standard Winchester marks. Round barrel with pinned front sight blade, old paint on the face. Carbine folding ladder sight with 5, 10, 15 and 20 graduation marks. Metal finish worn and thin with some rust spotting. Wood is overall good however the buttstock has an old chip of missing wood on the right side at the corner of the upper tang and receiver. Mechanically fine. The bore is a bit worn and frosted., s/n 5142xx |
