| Description: |
| 30-30 Winchester; 92% blue, good bore, very good stock, 20'' barrel, As used by the Canadian Pacific Coast Militia Rangers during WW2. The PCMR was set up as a contingent of the Canadian Army in 1942, and consisted of volunteers to patrol the Pacific Coast areas of Canada against the possbile threat of Japanese invasion. Tasked with providing surveillance and localized defense of the coastline. While under the command of Canadian Armed Forces, the volunteers were initially equipped with non standard small arms as Lee Enfield rifles were only available to the regular Military at the time. Many of the Rangers initially used personal firearms of various calibers. In order to somewhat standardize small arms issue to the Rangers, purchasing agents acquired lever action firearms from Winchester and Marlin in 30WCF caliber to be issued until Lee Enfield rifles could be acquired. This particular Winchester 94 is one of approximately 3000 issued to the PCMR. Manufactured in 1942, with original blued finish and plain walnut stock. Standard Winchester markings, Canadian Broad Arrow C markings are located on the left side of the buttstock and forend, and on the left side lower front corner of the receiver. Standard ramped front sight with hood and elevation adjustable rear sight. This example has an added fabricated band with sling swivel over the front of the forend with a 1943 dated Canadian proofed web sling attached. Metal and wood show some handling and fairly light wear, some finish spotting on the magazine tube. There is a minor crack on the bottom of the forend at the receiver. Mechanically fine and clean internally. The bore is a bit frosted., s/n 13348xx |
