| WW1 U.S. Army uniform grouping of Pvt. Frank A. Swanson (1894-1971) from Knox County IL, who served in France with Co.A, 140th Infantry Regiment, 35th Infantry Div. Group includes his coat and overseas cap. His name is written on the back side of the leather sweat band inside the cap. Insignia on the coat consists of a 35th Div. shoulder patch, red discharge stripe and one gold overseas chevron. Collar disks are US and INFANTRY. Also included are a large number of post cards, many with his correspondence. Also a second 35th Div. shoulder patch, and a photo of him wearing this uniform with the patch showing. Reseach includes copies of his info and picture from the Knox County WW1 book, as well as various info from ancestry.com. Also the salebill for his daughters estate listing this uniform. |
