Klappmesser Böker SD 3John W. Smith aus Kentucky konnte uns mit seinem Entwurf auf Anhieb begeistern. Seine Serie "SD" vereint klassische Elemente des modernen Klappmesserbaus mit einem angenehm schnörkellosen Design, und Gebrauchstüchtigkeit wird bei seinen Messern immer großgeschrieben. Die kugelgelagerte Klinge verriegelt per Linerlock und wird aus dem pulvermetallurgischen CPM-154 gefertigt, der auch unter den amerikanischen Custom-Messermachern äußerst beliebt ist. Backen und Platinen werden aus Titangefertigt und mit einem Orange-Peel-Finish versehen, das in Kombination mit den gebürsteten Leinenmicarta-Griffschalen für ein sehr edles Erscheinungsbild sorgt. Die Klinge mit ihrem feinen Satin-Finish lässt sich per Daumenscheibe öffnen, wobei diese im Bedarfsfall auch "lückenlos" entfernt werden kann, um das Messer zum Zweihänder umzurüsten. Der durchbrochene Clip (Tip-up) gewährleistet einen tiefen Sitz in der Tasche.
