The handguard also has an unrepaired crack on the left and right sides at the low area at the rear sight. The comb of the stock at the butt is stamped with the number 4 in a circle and the number 1 above that. Receiver has dark bluing, with some finish wear around the loading slot, and some brown patina. Rear barrel band has fairly dark bluing with finish wear on the right side. End cap and front sight has some finish wear on the front and rear ends. Trigger plate has dark bluing. Trigger guard has some edge wear and a scratch in the finish near the screw. Magazine has light edge wear on the bottom and a lightly mottled appearance. Receiver is stamped with manufacturer mark "FAB. D'ARMES NEUHAUSEN" above the serial number, which was the temporary operating name for Waffenfabrik Neuhausen (SIG Neuhausen) before consolidation. There is also a small stamp of an encircled "HH" below and to the left of the serial number on the receiver. Parts are stamped with a Swiss inspection stamp of a cross over S for Colonel Schmidt. Includes leather sling. Antique; no import engraving. This scarce example of a Swiss Mannlicher 1893 is one of only 4,250 total produced at SIG Neuhausen between 1895-1896. 1893 models produced afterward were produced by W+F BERN. |
