Mittels eines Umschalthebels kann mit nur einer kurzen Handbewegung die Vergrößerung von 1.5-fach auf 6-fach gewechselt werden. Im Gegensatz zu konventionellen zoombaren Zielfernrohren bleibt der Augenabstand in beiden Modi identisch. Die Beleuchtung kann wahlweise als komplette Absehensbeleuchtung oder als Leuchtpunkt eingestellt werden, der Punkt hat einen Durchmesser von 1.5 MOA. In der tiefsten Beleuchtungsstufe ist das Specter DR mit Nachtsichtgeräten kompatibel. Das Specter DR ist extrem robust, wasserdicht und verfügt über eine absolut herausragende Optik. Die Batterielebensdauer beträgt im Durchschnitt 3000 Betriebsstunden.
