A magnificent revolver made by Freedom Arms, the Model 83 was the first revolver to use the .454Casull cartridge which remains as one of the most powerful handgun ammunition even today. The design of the revolver is inspired by the Colt SAA of 1873, which has been greatly reinforced to contain the very high pressures developed by the .454Casull ammunition, while the cylinder capacity is 5 cartridges. Originally intended for hunting or silhouette shooting, an adjustable rear sight has been added. The "Field Grade" version of the Model 83 features a matte stainless steel finish. The revolver presented is in new condition and has probably never been fired (see photos).
