Entwickelt durch Colonel Kijiro Nambu 1904, konnten diese Waffen durch Offiziere privat erworben und dienstlich getragen werden. Zeitgenössische Überarbeitung und Nachbrünierung mit Rostnärbchen (Rework), Bedienteile gelb angelassen, Tangentialvisier 100-500m, seitl. eingeschlauftes Korn.
