| Details Die 8 x 57 JS ist eine erstklassige Patrone für Entfernungen bis zu rund 180 m. Ideal ist sie für die Jagd im Wald und als Drückjagd-Patrone. Außerdem ist sie eine erstklassige Hochwild-Patrone für mitteleuropäisches Wild. Sie wird dort auch sehr gerne als universelle Patrone eingesetzt. Mit ihr hat man in der Regel geringere Hämatombildung zu verzeichnen als mit rasanten, schwächeren Kalibern. Die 8 x 57 JS wurde aus der alten Militärpatrone 8 x 57 I durch Vergrößerung des Geschossdurchmessers von .318" auf .323" (8,08 / 8,20 mm) entwickelt und erhielt ein S in der Bezeichnung. Sie wurde 1905 eingeführt und fand schnell auch bei Jägern Gefallen.
