| 12 Gauge; fair bore, good stock, 30'' barrel, c.1880's manufacture, engraved on top of the barrel rib "SAML B. ALLPORT, 50. WHITTALL ST. BIRMINGHAM". Browned Damascus barrels with 2 1/2" chambers. Both chokes are open, muzzles thin. Concave smooth rib with silver bead. Frame and locks bright with fine scroll and border engraving. Makers name engraved in banners on each lock. Checkered walnut straight grip stock with a serrated thick horn buttplate. Unmarked silver inlaid oval on the bottom. Wedged splinter forearm. Swinging underlever barrel break. Both actions function fine and barrels lock up well. Some scattered rust spotting on the frame and lockplate. Barrels likely re-browned at some point, two small areas of pitting on the bottom of the left barrel. Antique., s/n 14xx |
