Description:
22 LR CAL; 90% blue, very good bore, good stock, 26'' barrel, SA unit roundel stamped on the right side of the stock "GRUPPE KURPFALZ". The W625B model was the most common variation of the W625 series of training rifles, with about 14,000 being produced. With the B model came yet more improvements to compete with the DSM-34 rifles, one being a change in the rear sight of the DSM-34 training rifles, which better resembled the rear sights on military issue K98 Mauser rifles. The B model retained the side sling mounts and cock on opening bolt. The bolt safety was redesigned and was now a separate part, and the bolts were now being blued. It was also during the B models production that the manufacturers trademark logo gradually changed after the take over of Simson by the nazi government, the company was now Berlin Suhler Waffen. As production continued more features that appeared on the DSM training rifles were incorporated in W625B production. Original blued finish, walnut stock and handguard. Matching bolt. Fixed inverted V front sight. Tangent rear sight graduated 25-200 meters. Stamped on top of the receiver ring "Mod.W625B" over the BSW/SUHL logo. The left side of the barrel is stamped with the caliber designation and serial number. Crown/B and U proofs are located on the right side of the barrel and receiver. This example is a bit of an anomaly, it has had some modification possibly done while in service. It is fitted with the earlier type W625 handguard. The tip of the forend is noticeably shorter and has the upper H band with spring securing it and the lower band. Also the bolt cocks on closing as opposed to cock on opening standard on W625B models. Original leather sling attached which is in Good condition. In overall Good condition showing some wear and handling. From the collection of Robert Simpson., Training Rifles of Third Reich Germany pp 424, s/n 1519xx
