615 CAL; fair bore, good stock, 34'' barrel, The Ferguson rifle was one of the first breech-loading rifles to be put into service by the British military. It fired a standard British carbine ball of .615" caliber and was used by the British Army in the American Revolutionary War at the Battle of Brandywine in 1777, and possibly at the Siege of Charleston. The side plate is stamped with TOWER and a large CROWN / GR The action works. The front sight is a blade and the rear is a flip up V notch. The front stock end cap is missing. It has a brass tipped ramrod. The barrel has no stamped information. The stock is in good condition and has a brass buttplate. ANTIQUE,
