| 12 Gauge; 90% blue, fair bore, fair stock, 30'' barrel, Scarce shotgun in any configuration, takedown version, produced c.1895. Blued finish, possibly an older refinish. Walnut stock, checkered grip panel and forend. Damascus barrel with 2 5/8" chamber. Chokes gauges Improved Cylinder. Solid barrel rib with a worn down brass bead, a center bead is broken. Marked on top of the finely matted barrel rib "PAT. DEC. 25-83. MAR. 2, 86. FEB. 8. JULY 12, NOV. 22-87. JULY 5 & 7, 92 REIS. 10555". Marked on top of the bolt cover "BURGESS GUN CO." and "BUFFALO, N.Y. U.S.A.". Original checkered hard rubber buttplate, old smoothed chipping at the toe as well as the stock. The checkered on the wood is well worn and barely visible. There is a tight crack on top of the stock at the end of the upper tang which runs to the front of the comb. Missing the screw on the left side of the metal forend tip. The metal finish is fading fairly evenly overall, with areas of finished over minor pitting. The bore is dull and shows light corrosion throughout. Mechanically the gun is in fine condition, however it's not recommended for use as a field gun, best as a representative collectible of a very scarce and unique shotgun. Antique., s/n 21xx |
