| 31 Caliber; fair bore, good grips, 6'' barrel, Manufactured in 1848. Octagonal barrel without loading lever. Matching serial numbers except the barrel wedge. Walnut grip. 5-shot percussion cylinder. Brass square back trigger guard and backstrap. Barrel is marked in two lines on the top "ADDRESS SAML COLT / NEW-YORK CITY". "COLT'S / PATENT" marked on the left side of the frame. Only traces of the cylinder scene remain which appear to be the Ranger and Indian scene. The butt of the grip frame has initials vintage neatly engraved " E A S". The metal has turned a light grey patina with dark spotting. Markings with the exception of the cylinder scene are legible. A few of the screw heads are slightly buggered but not bad. The grips are good having only minor shrinkage. Mechanically this revolver is in fine condition. The barrel is snug as it should be and has sharp rifling with moderate corrosion. Antique, s/n 64xx |
