| 38 Centerfire; fair bore, fair grips, 7.5'' barrel, Manufactured c.1870's. Factory conversion using 1851 Navy parts to metallic cartridge. Fitted with ejector assembly and loading gate. Octagon barrel originally blue having turned mostly patina. Blued finish cylinder is not serial numbered (blank where the number is usually stamped) with approximately 80% naval battel scene. Casehardened frame aged mostly an even gray. Fitted with vintage bone grips showing age with shrinkage. Barrel is non-matching. Wedge not marked. Colt's New York address stamped in a single line on top of the barrel. Left side of the frame is stamped with 1871 and 1872 patent dates in two lines. The action functions fine. Some pitting on the bore. Antique, s/n 24xx |
