| 45 ACP; 98% blue, excellent bore, excellent grips, 5'' barrel, Manufactured in 1941, 1 of 2,500 pistols delivered to the Commanding Officer, Springfield Armory on April 30, 1941. Original "brush" blued finish and correct "dished" or hollow back checkered plastic grips. Boxed R.S. inspector mark of Robert Sears on the left frame. R.S. inspected Colt 1911A1 pistols were at the transition point from Colt's blued finish to the parkerized finish which was standard throughout the remainder of military production. Matching serial numbered slide is stamped on the left side with the two-line two-block patent dates and Colt's address flankin the Rampant Colt logo. The right side of the frame is stamped "UNITED STATES PROPERTY" over the serial number, and "M1911A1 U.S.ARMY". The left side of the frame has the inspector stamp with the P firing proof below the magazine catch "T" over triangle "VP" proof on the left side of the trigger guard. An additional P proof is located on top of the slide just ahead of the rear sight. Pistol is parts correct, blued finish barrel is marked "COLT 45 AUTO" on the bottom left, P proofed on the left side of the lug, and "G" stamped on the bottom ahead of the lug. The magazine is brush blued and stamped "S" on top of the early pinned base lip. This exceptional example is in excellent overall condition. Few of the sharp edges show minor wear. Light ring marks on the front grip strap from handling. Cycling wear is minimal. Markings are crisp and the finish is uniform and bright. Grips are excellent. The bore's rifling is sharp showing no wear, a bit of frost throughout., s/n 7281xx |
