| Description: |
| 28 Caliber; 30% blue, good bore, good grips, 3'' barrel, Manufactured c.1842 after John Ehlers assumed control of the Patent Firearms Manufacturing Company, very rare with an estimated 500 completed using parts and non-completed guns in inventory. The major differences in the Ehlers Pocket Models is the capping recess on the right side of the recoil shield, addition of the loading lever with rounded back edge of the cylinder, and the deletion of part of the markings on top of the barrel, now marked "-Patent Arms Paterson N.J.-Colt's Pt.-", having removed the "M'g Co" part of the marking after Patent Arms as on previously manufactured revolvers. Matching numbers visible on the back of the barrel, back of the cylinder and on the wedge. This example retains approximately 30%- of the original bright blued finish, the remaining finish in the more protected less handled areas. Varnish finished rosewood grip with a bit of varnish wear on edges and few handling marks. The 5 chamber cylinder shows approximately 80% of the roll engraved Centaur scene. The metal has a few small dings, mainly on the right side of the frame and a few near the wedge slot. Screw head slots are good without excessive wear. Scattered areas of minor corrosion on the left side of the frame and on the barrel. The action functions well. The bore has some shine with strong rifling, with some minor-light corrosion. Antique, s/n 30 |
