| 44 Special; 98% blue, excellent bore, excellent grips, 5 1/2'' barrel, Rare caliber markings, sources say less than 50 Army's were marked for both S&W R and Special. Manufactured c.1932-33. Original blued finish, color case hardened frame and hammer, and checkered hard rubber grips. Factory letter dated 1965 states the revolver was shipped on May 22, 1934 to Edwards & Walker, Portland ME. 1 of 1 guns in the shipment. Single line Colt's address stamped top of the barrel. Caliber designation stamped on the left side of the barrel in two lines "RUSSIAN AND / S&W SPECIAL" followed by "44". Left frame stamped with the patent dates 1871, 1872 and 1875 in two lines, followed by the Rampant Colt logo. Generous and even case colors remain on the frame. Finish shows very slight sharp edge wear. Light turn line on the cylinder, hasn't seen much use or play. Grips show slight wear to points on the checkering. Bore is bright and clean. The action functions well. With factory letter., s/n 3546xx |
