| Description: |
| 30 Luger; 92% blue, 60% straw, good bore, good grips, 4.75'' barrel, Very rare 1902 G.P.K. German Army field trials Luger pistol. Serial number 8592. 4 3/4 inch 7.65 mm caliber barrel. DWM monogram on center toggle link. Dished toggles with toggle latch. Distinctive "GESICHERT" safety marking on left toggle housing. Grip safety. All numbered parts are matching including the checkered walnut grips. Proper unmarked wood bottom magazine. This gun has the same characteristics and a serial number just above the 15 known G.P.K. trials guns with grip safety and GESICHERT marking. It is lacking the G.P.K. crown/D proof so it was not used in the trials, but it is also lacking commercial proofs showing it was not to have been sold commercially, but retained by the DWM factory as a spare gun for the trials contract. This gun is featured on pages 86, 88 and 217 of the book "The Borchardt & Luger Automatic Pistols" by Joachim Gortz and Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess. Provenance: The collection of Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess. Condition: Excellent. Retaining 92% blue with sharp edge wear and grip straps that are starting to fade. 60% original straw opn the small parts. Grips show wood grain and are moderately worn with some chips and dings to the checkering. Magazine has light corrosion on the body. Wood bottom shows very little wear. Mechanics are fine. Bore is bright with light frosting and wear. C&R/FFL, s/n 85xx, Catalog Number D-260 |
