| Description: |
| 9mm Luger; 95% blue, 90% straw, very good bore, good grips, 4'' barrel, This is a unique pistol which was manufactured/assembled by Mauser circa 1933/34 using parts acquired during the transfer from DWM-BKIW. And may have been snuck into military service. Original blue finish, strawed small parts and checkered walnut grips. The numbered parts (in the standard commerical locations) are matching, however the toggle appears to have been re-numbered to match at the time of assembly. The magazine is a plated sheet steel variation with aluminum bottom which is not numbered, but is marked across the base 9mm. One grip is numbered and matching, the other is not numbered, they match each other in condition and color. The toggle has a high polish finish, common as Mauser was doing some experimentation with finishes at the time. The top of the toggle is stamped with the DWM monogram, the chamber is blank. A large Oberndorf crown/U proof is located on the left side of the receiver and crown/U proofs also appear on the left side of the breechbolt and bottom of the barrel. The right side frame rail has a small droop eagle military acceptance stamp at the front. Below the serial number on the front of the frame there is stamped what appears to be a suffix, which is a backwards check mark? From the collection of Dr. Geoffrey Sturgess. Condition: Near excellent, the metal finish show minor sharp edge wear and some high point holster wear, with some minor pitting on the left side of the muzzle ring and on the front grip strap where there is some thin finish. The straw color on the small parts is fairly uniform. The grips have some light handling marks with an area of compressed checkering on the left panel. Mechanically fine. The bore has shine and strong rifling, showing light frost in the grooves. C&R/FFL, s/n 870xx, Catalog Number D-301 |
