| fair bore, good grips, 6'' barrel, A spectacular pair of Queen Anne style flintlock pistols made by Edward North of London c.1813. Both have silver plated finish including on the handle mounts. Handles of walnut with gargoyle engraved decorative butt caps. Smoothbored screw barrels which appear to be steel lined. Engraved on top of the frame "LONDON" and on the bottom with the maker "EDW'd NORTH" Halmarked oval crown/GP and crown/V, along with an EN in diamond halmark stamp. Niether pistol is numbered. The handle on one has a crack running from the left side of the upper tang, down the back to the silver inlaid oval. The other has a crack on the right side between the upper tang and top of the lock. The locks on both function very well. Antique |
